If you are buying a new home, we would recommend giving the house a thorough inspection. These inspections can be priceless information when it comes to negotiations. Starting with a good general home inspection will give you a good overview of the entire house including electrical, mechanical and roof, you should get a nice report with images. The foundation is an important part that really needs a specialist to review, a good engineer can give you the highs and lows and put it on a drawing for you you. An inspection from the Pest Control will look for termites, carpenter ants and some other unwanted guests. A good plumbing inspection can do a pressure test on the pipes and scope a camera down the sewer to make sure there are no big ticket surprises waiting for you. If the house has a pool we would also recommend having someone inspect the pool’s pumps, plaster lining and to make sure it’s holding water. After these tests, you should have a pretty good idea of what you are getting into.
